Mariana Ruiz Johnson grew up loving books. Her parents were both book illustrators and watching them work inspired her to create books of her own. After graduating from art school she decided to pursue an illustration career as well. Now a mother herself, she is inspired by her son to create books that she hopes will bring people together and make the world a better place. While You Are Sleeping is the winner of the 2015 Silent Book Contest, the first international competition dedicated to books without words, held in Italy. Mariana lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with her husband and son.
